Waste compactors handed over to Ecological Department of 21 aimags of Mongolia

Waste compactors were transferred to the Administration of Specially Protected Areas and Environment Departments of 21 aimags in Mongolia. The productivity of the machines is 300-500 tons of waste per hour.

Every year 3.4 million tons of waste are generated throughout the country, of which 1.2 million are in the capital. In her speech at the event, Minister of Environment and Tourism D. Saranzherel stated that the seals are provided as part of the government’s plan to improve waste management.

Purevdorj, director of a local recycling company that has been turning plastic waste into street benches and manhole covers since 2005, said the seals would make transporting recyclable materials much faster and easier. He noted that San Orgiyu’s activities prompted the idea to import such equipment.

Compactors are capable of compacting paper, cardboard boxes, cans and electrical waste. Today, two local companies produce recycled products, and four companies export recycled plastics abroad.
